On Thursday afternoon, my hubby called me from on the road. He is in outside sales and travels a lot during the week. I asked him how his day was going, and his reply was "Pretty good until thirty minutes ago when I got t-boned by a little old white haired lady!". He was driving on the highway and a car ran a stop sign and nailed him in the driver's side of his car, just slightly behind where he was sitting. He was not badly injured, although his back and head continue to be sore two days later. The car, on the other hand, sustained $6300 worth of damage and may be written off. We are extremely thankful that he was not badly injured, as if the offending car had landed any further forward, Clinton would have sustained a direct hit. We're currently dealing with our insurance and waiting to see what will happen with the vehicle.
On Friday morning, I spoke with DH about replacing the coffee maker, and he told me to go for it. I just knew that until we had a proper brewing machine, all would not be right with the world. Alas, before I was able to get to the store to pick up the coffee maker that was on sale, my mom called. The first words out of her mouth were, "Don't Panic, but...". Now, you know any conversation that starts with those words cannot be a good conversation. My dad, who has had health problems in the past, was having chest pain and feeling very fatigued yesterday morning so he went in to the doctor to get checked out. His blood pressure was quite high, and his cardiogram showed some changes from the one he had recently. My parents live in a small town just over an hour away from the nearest hospital. Because of this, the medical clinic followed protocol and loaded my dad into an ambulance to take him to the hospital. His blood pressure continued to be very high at the hospital, and his heartrate was too low. Finally they figured out it was a recent change in medication that had caused the problem, and once they put him back on his old medication things settled down. He was released after four hours in the ER and is home and feeling much better now.
The first thing I did after we found out my dad was going to be okay, was run to the store and buy that coffee maker!! I am happy to say that today, all is right with the world. The coffee is once again flowing freely in the Rempel household, and I am praying for a very uneventful weekend.

Oh, I can so relate. I can conquer anything as long as I have my coffee! I love your boys staring at it like it is a strange intruder. Actually, your machine looks like mine and Allen says your counter looks like ours too.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the life of us we were sitting here trying to remember your maiden name and we absolutely can not! How weird is that?
And Allen wants to know what kind of sales Clinton does... because of course you know he is related to sales, too.
And I am so happy to know that your dad is ok and that Clinton did not get more seriously injured... Praise God for the protection on our good men as they face the world each day!
Happy Saturday!
